Intentional acts of love

Do you see those two eyes watching me? Guess what? They’re ALWAYS watching me, every move I make, everywhere I go, everything I do these two eyes are watching me. I have to be so intentional about what I do and how I do it.

February 6th my daughter watched me walk over to an older women who was in tears from the cold. Rubbing her hands together crying while her son or grandson tried his best to help her. I stood there watching her, asking questions trying not to be invasive but to be honest with you even while not dealing with a child my maternal instincts kicked in and I saw pain that I wanted to help ease.

After watching her and giving verbal tips I abandoned ship walked over to her grabbed her hands and was rubbing them and warming them up for her. I didn’t ask, but at this point I didn’t need to, she needed warmth I was warm and that was all we both needed.

The whole time those two eyes were watching me, those two eyes were observing my every move. What my daughter saw was compassion for the helpless, she saw sympathy, she saw action and most of all she saw LOVE! May our words and most importantly our actions reflect that of love, compassion and kindness to those who need it and most importantly those who don’t deserve it

I burst into tears when I reached the line about the way your child interpreted your actions. You are right. They soak up everything, so quickly. This is the right time to show love in action. Thank you for this reminder.

Elle, thank you for taking the time to read this! What you’ve said is so true, the right way to show love is through action. They’re never to young to start seeing and understanding what love looks like. May we raise a future generation who learn to love through actions not just words.
