One of the upsides to scrolling through instagram and following other fab mommies is the exposure to really great brands that they love. I’m very much team referral so if a brand or product has been referred to me i’m 100 times more likely to use it as opposed to traditional marketing. While scrolling one afternoon I came across the cutest diapers, with a cute little pattern. As a complete sucker for anything cute I was immediately drawn to figure out what brand this was.
Excitedly I stumbled on Rascal and Friends, a New Zealand based company that has created every conscious mommies dream diaper. These diapers have no chlorine bleaching, latex, lotions, fragrance or formaldehyde. They are essentially everything i’m looking for in a diaper for my little ones sensitive bum. As the GenY that I am I immediately went to their instagram page. I was in love with the cuteness but one thing I didn’t see on their page was little ones who looked like my daughter. None of the little ones on their feed represented my daughter, a beautiful little brown skinned girl.
As the mother of a little black girl it’s incredibly important that the companies, brands and places where I spend my money represent children of colour. I want to see my daughter and little girls like her in the brands we support. So I reached out to Rascal & Co and my experience from their prompt response, to the honesty, to the transparency was all so refreshing. It was so nice to be able to have an open, honest dialogue about diversity.
If you asked me a few months ago what mattered to me in a diaper I would have said I don’t have the slightest clue. But now eight months deep into motherhood and I have a laundry list of things that matter to me. I care about a lot more than I could have ever imagined caring about as a 29 year old mom.
So let’s talk about my experience with Rascal & Co. diapers. First of all I absolutely LOVE the design on them, they take an everyday diaper and made it cute, I can’t wait to see how they switch up the look in the years to come. The high back on these diapers are perfect for my little ones poops that seem to travel. I love that they don’t leak and I don’t have to worry about accidents while we’re out. The deep pocket means that they diapers last longer and hold a lot more than other leading brands. The velcro is strong, i’ve been finding that some of the other diapers i’ve been using have weak velcro but once these stick, they don’t move and that kind of peace of mind is something you couldn’t possibly pay for.
One thing that I miss is the wetness stripe that allows you to see how wet your baby is without taking off the diaper, outside of that we absolutely love Rascal & Co. diapers. They are the change we’ve been waiting for, we’re excited to support and purchase diapers that are safe and cute.
Have you tried Rascal & Co. diapers? You can purchase them at everyones favourite retailer Walmart.
My goddaughter is slaying in her robe and pampers. Ask about LL! Representation matters, and I am so glad to see you two out there not just slaying the game, but changing it. Keeping doing what you’re doing, mama!
