3 Ways I Started Showing Up For Myself In 2021

2021 became this incredibly personal year, one that I had no intentions of having. While part of my life was becoming the best it’s ever been my relationship was falling apart and unraveling at the seams in a way that couldn’t be controlled. The truth is, it was done long before it ended but that’s a story for a different day.
I needed more of me this year, I needed, I needed to start showing up for Alisha in a way that I hadn’t in a long time. For the past 4 years it’s been about my daughter and getting us to this place where we are comfortable. We’re here now, in fact we’re here in a way I didn’t even know was possible.

So now that Londyn was good, I needed to be good so I ended my relationship and started to focus on me. Here are the 5 ways I started showing up for me this year.

Changed Jobs: One way to live better could be to cut costs but I already live a lean life and I wanted to earn more so I changed my job, not only was my previous job impacting the quality of my life but it was severely messing with my mental health. Simply put, they just didn’t give a shit about their employees. I increased my earning power, I’m better supported, the quality of my life has increased and I feel abundantly happier.

Therapy: As soon as my relationship was over, I reconnected with my therapist, it was the best decision I ever made and nothing has brought more healing than that.

Personal Trainer: I made the decision that last year was going to be THE LAST year that I wasn’t comfortable in the skin I was in. I found Jesse and really liked the energy he brought, he understood my goals and my why and it’s been great ever since. I’m stronger, I’m happier and I’m far more connected with how to care for my body long term.

As a mother and woman it’s so easy to put us on the back burner but the truth is we can’t pour from an empty cup so going forward I now know how important it is to take care of me so I can take care of those around me.
