Christmas Traditions

Christmas is such a magical time of the year, truly my favourite season. There just seems to be an abundance of joy, love, happiness and wonder in the air and everyone for this brief moment in time is kinder, gentler and more approachable. This year was so special, it was my first Christmas with my daughter, a moment i’ve dreamt of for as long as I can remember. One of the things that most excited me about becoming a mom is the ability to start my own traditions. I was so excited to create new traditions and do things with my daughter that would stand the test of time. Things she could look back on and see the growth over the years.

As you can imagine there is so much to do and so many traditions to be made, so many things one can incorporate into yearly doings but when it boiled down to it the one things I always wanted to do was a yearly Christmas card from photos that we took. Walking into single motherhood I was unsure of what I could afford, unsure of what would be feasible. This year’s Christmas photos were over my budget but the thing is that they were important to me and I made it happen regardless. There will never be a first Christmas and I can’t capture this years love, excitement, youth and joy next year.

These pictures will last a lifetime, Londyn and I will have them for years and that is incredibly heartwarming, when she’s grown up and goes off to have her own family, she’ll have these pictures. She’ll create her own traditions and yearly norms. The moments don’t last forever but these pictures will.
